The Full Story
Thank you for visiting my online home. I hope that its here you find what you are looking for, whether that be a presenter, event host, emcee, voice-over or discover Sports Travel Tom, my sports and adventure travel content platform.
As well as the services I am able to offer, here is a little background on my career so you know a little more about my story. If that doesn't put you off, then I hope we can work together soon.
From riding the waves of the mid-Atlantic whilst the Onboard Reporter for Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing to hanging off the side of the world's tallest building filming a story for CNN on how Dubai's Burj Khalifa lit up for the World Cup, my presenting and live event hosting career has taken me to all corners of the globe and covered a wide range of genres and topics, but it all started at the age of 2...

Shortly after this photo was taken, I was told I couldn't go straight into the working world and had to go to school first. So, I put my microphone and headphones down for a few years, went through school before then attending Gateshead College where I studied Media Studies. It was here I was really able to begin my presenting and event hosting career, as I used my evenings to go to the local hospital to present on hospital radio. I'm not sure 'Tom Bushell's Nighttime Social' was a massive hit with the patients, but it was a brilliant learning ground.
I then headed to the University of Surrey and gained my degree in Media Production (Technology), as well as presenting on the student radio station for the three years I was a student. During my second year, I was nominated for 'Best Male Presenter' in the UK by the BBC Radio 1 Student Radio Awards. Although I (only slightly) missed out on the top prize, (my calls for a recount have so far been ignored), I was soon presenting for the Capital Radio network on the Overnight Show. So, my third year at University consisted of lectures and student radio during the day, and overnight shows on the Capital network by night. I basically didn't sleep for a year.
Once University was complete, I was able to get a nap and the enjoy 4 years on various stations across the Capital network which included broadcasting live from Leicester Square to hosting the huge Party in the Park outdoor music festivals.
Then, in 2008 I made the move to Dubai to join Dubai 92, part of the Arabian Radio Network and enjoyed the joy of travel as well as broadcasting to a big city market and hosting the city's biggest music events introducing gigs such Jools Holland Live!, Kasabian live in Dubai, Maroon 5, Emirates Airline Jazz Festival and Westlife's Reunion Tour.
Soon though my desire to branch out of music radio and move into sport saw me move across the corridor at the Arabian Radio Network and join, Dubai Eye 103.8 where I became Head of Sport. By this time, I was also the anchor for the Middle East wide Sport on 7 TV show on City 7 TV where I was reporting from some of the world's biggest sporting events from the Melbourne Cup to the London Olympics.

Over the next few years, I hosted some of the region's biggest events such as the Middle East Sports Industry Awards, Asia Sports Industry Awards, DP World Tour Championship and Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships to name just a few.
Life was great, so why I then decided to accept an offer to be Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing's Onboard Reporter and sail around the world reporting on what is called the 'most challenging sports race in the world', is beyond me!

In all seriousness, I love sailing, adventure, travel and storytelling. This role gave me all of that. I was also the team's emcee for whenever we were in front of the media, or hosting a team sponsor's day etc. The job had everything I loved about life.... until I was being smacked about by 40 foot waves in the middle of the mid-Atlantic trying to file my latest video from onboard the boat. It was one of the most challenging jobs I have ever had, in fact, it is the most challenging but it was also one of the best. From sailing from Hong Kong to Vietnam through typhoons to exploring the Atlantic, it was a blast and something I still look back on fondly.
Once my sea-legs gave up on me, I returned to terra firma and began reporting for CNN from their Abu Dhabi HQ. I soon moved back to London and enjoyed two years with BT Sport reporting live for BT Sport Score, presenting features for CNN and being a studio guest at their London studios and voicing short form sports stories for ITN and SNTV.

Fast-forward to 2020 and during the pandemic, I launched Sports Travel Tom to bring together my love of travel, sport and adventure. So far the video content I have produced on the platform has gained 200,000 views and 10,000 hours of watch time. Once lockdown began to ease, I spent 3 months travelling the United Staes of America showcasing some of the world's biggest sporting events and epic adventures making it easier for sport and adventure fans to plan their trips. You can watch a video from the platform below, this one features my story on how to attend a LA Dodgers game in Los Angeles.
Now based in Edinburgh, Scotland I have recently enjoyed hosting the Carl Froch/George Groves UK Tour across multiple venues and have just completed two events I love being the tournament host at, the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, two huge Rolex series events on the DP World Tour.

Tennis, another big love of mine is also where I have been busy recently hosting the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in December 2022 and I was then delighted to be asked be the tournament host for the world's newest WTA tennis event, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open where I hosted the hospitality Q&A's after each match, as well as the live entertainment in the Tennis Village throughout the week working with IMG. In 2023 I co-hosted the tournament with Monica Puig.

All in all it's fair to say I have been lucky in the varied experiences I've enjoyed which has all gone towards being an accomplished presenter and live event host, no matter the genre, running order or location.
If you have an event coming up I'd be delighted to hear form you, and thank you for taking the time to read my story.
